I am a research professor at the Research
Center
Process
and
Product
Engineering
and affiliated with the Department
of
Computer
Science of the Vorarlberg
University of Applied
Sciences, Dornbirn, Austria. Formerly, I was with the Chair of Systems
Analysis at the Department
of
Computer
Science
of
the
University
of Dortmund, Germany, in
different positions finally as a professor of computer science. You may

My areas of scientific interests
are:
 Evolutionary Computation (Evolution Strategies and Genetic
Algorithms)
 Computational Intelligence (Fuzzy Systems, Neural Networks,
and Evolutionary Algorithms)
 Methods and Algorithms gleaned from nature (Bionics,
Natural Computing)
 Optimization techniques (engineering, simulation
optimization)
 Modeling and simulation of technical processes (in general)
 Dynamical systems theory (systems analysis)
My current research focusses on:
 Evolutionary and other approaches to noisy optimization
 Evolutionary Algorithms for constrained optimization
 Theoretical analysis of Evolutionary Algorithms
 Robust engineering optimization
